Better together.
Research shows that healthy relationships have a huge impact on our mental health, physical health, happiness and general well-being.

Meet Kelly-Jane Monahan
Counseling is actually a second career for me! I began my professional career as an actor. I grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to California after graduation to attend Pepperdine University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Theatre Acting. A big part of studying acting involves studying behavior and relationships. So, without knowing where I was going to land 12 years later, I was already honing my passion and skill for working with relationships. I ended up landing in Illinois, where I earned an advanced degree, began my second career in social work, and fell in love with working with couples! I have witnessed the power that strong, connected relationships have on people’s overall happiness.
I began my journey with Gottman Method Couples Therapy in 2019 when I completed Level 1 training. Over the next several years, I completed Level 2, Level 3, Couples and Addiction Recovery training, and Treating Affairs and Trauma. After which, I entered into the Certification Track, where I am currently working with my senior Gottman consultant to continuously strengthen my skills and work toward becoming a Certified Gottman Therapist.

WHAT IS THE
Gottman Method?
The Gottman Method has helped thousands of couples have the relationship that they want with better communication.
Some of the Facts:
Will you be a good fit for me/us?
I am a firm believer that a huge part whether therapy is effective is the relationship between the therapist and the clients. I require a complimentary 30-minute consultation prior to start of therapy. This allows us a chance to meet and get to know each other in order to determine if we will be a good fit. During the consultation I will also answer any questions you may have and explain what you can expect during the first few sessions.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes! I am paneled with Health Alliance, BCBS IL, Humana, Web TPA, Aetna, and United Healthcare.
Do you only work with couples?
While I enjoy working with couples, I am also open to seeing individuals who would love to work on their interpersonal relationships in general—family, friends, colleagues. It can be helpful to look ahead and prepare for future relationships while also reflecting on past relationships.
